KVK Bandipora-1 Holds Training on Nutritional Empowerment of Adolescent Girls

Bandipora, April 10: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora-1 today organized a training programme on “Nutritional Empowerment of Adolescent Girls Through Balanced Diet Promotion” in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Association of Social Workers, aiming to raise awareness about balanced nutrition, dietary diversification, and healthy food practices among adolescent girls.

The programme was graced by Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth, who delivered a detailed lecture on the importance of proper nutrition during adolescence, describing it as a critical phase for physical, mental, and overall development. She appreciated KVK Bandipora-1 for its outreach efforts and emphasized the need for continuous capacity-building initiatives for rural women and adolescent girls.

Head KVK Bandipora-1 Tariq Sultan highlighted the importance of nutritional awareness, kitchen gardening, and dietary diversification in ensuring household nutritional security. He stressed the need for sustained awareness programmes to combat malnutrition at the grassroots level.

During the technical sessions, experts including Dr. Tahir Saleem (SMS Vegetable Science), Dr. Nazir Ahmad Mir, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Zargar (SMS Agri-Extension), and Shabnum Mumtaz (SMS Entomology) delivered presentations on balanced diet practices, the role of vegetables, animal-based foods, and food safety.

Kulsum Bhat played a key role in mobilizing participants and highlighted the importance of awareness initiatives in promoting health, hygiene, and informed dietary practices among young girls.

The programme witnessed active participation from adolescent girls, who engaged with experts and gained practical knowledge on nutrition, health, and hygiene for improving their daily dietary habits.
