Bandipora, April 01: Acting on the directions of the Transport Commissioner, Jammu and Kashmir, the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Bandipora conducted a comprehensive enforcement drive across various parts of the district to ensure compliance with Motor Vehicle laws and promote road safety.

The drive was carried out at multiple checking points established along main roads, highways and busy market areas. A team of Motor Vehicles Department officials, under the supervision of ARTO Bandipora, participated in the operation.

Officials inspected passenger and goods vehicles, including two-wheelers, private cars, commercial vehicles and transport carriers. During the checks, documents such as Registration Certificates (RC), Driving Licences (DL), insurance papers, Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates and fitness certificates for commercial vehicles were verified.

The enforcement team focused on identifying violations including driving without valid documents, overloading of passenger and goods vehicles, use of mobile phones while driving, riding without helmets, non-use of seat belts, unauthorised modifications, illegal fittings and operation of vehicles without proper permits.

According to officials, several vehicles were found in violation of the Motor Vehicles Act and were issued challans under relevant sections of law. In cases involving serious violations or non-production of essential documents, some vehicles were detained on the spot.

In addition to enforcement measures, officials interacted with drivers and commuters to raise awareness about road safety norms and responsible driving practices. Particular emphasis was laid on helmet use among two-wheeler riders and adherence to basic traffic regulations.

Officials stated that similar drives will continue in the district to curb violations and strengthen road safety measures.
