Kishanganga Power Station Achieves Record Generation of 1506.52 Million Units

NHPC Limited plant achieves highest-ever output since commissioning; peak annual generation likely this fiscal

Bandipora, March 18: NHPC Limited’s Kishanganga Power Station in Bandipora has recorded its highest-ever power generation since commissioning, achieving a cumulative output of 1506.52 million units, officials said.

According to NHPC officials, the milestone was reached during the intervening night of March 17 and early hours of March 18 at around 00:00 hours, surpassing the station’s previous highest cumulative annual generation.

Head of the Power Station and General Manager (In-Charge), Rajesh Ranjan, said the achievement reflects the operational performance of the plant and the efforts of its workforce. He said the station has improved its generation output through coordinated functioning and sustained operations.

Officials said the power station, which operates under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has been working to enhance efficiency and maintain consistent generation levels.

On the occasion, Rajesh Ranjan congratulated the officers and employees of the power station for their contribution to achieving the milestone. He acknowledged the role of the workforce in maintaining operations under varying conditions and ensuring steady power generation.

NHPC officials said the achievement is expected to contribute to the overall power supply in the region. They added that the station is likely to further increase its generation output, with around two weeks remaining in the current month.

The power station is on track to register its highest annual generation during the financial year 2025–26, officials said, adding that efforts are being made to sustain the current level of performance.
The achievement was marked at the station with a brief event in which employees were acknowledged for their work.
