GGHSS Bandipora Hosts Workshop on Waste Management, Conservation

Bandipora, March 14: Government Girls Higher Secondary School Bandipora on Saturday hostedan awareness programme on sustainability, waste management and biodiversity conservation.

 

An official spokesperson said the programme was organised by J&K Association of Social Workers in collaboration with Wipro Earthian, with the aim of promoting environmental responsibility among students and staff.

 

The programme focused on educating participants about sustainable development and the need to balance human requirements with environmental protection for future generations.

 

Speakers highlighted responsible waste management practices, including reducing waste generation, recycling materials and adopting the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

 

During the session, resource persons Shahnawaz and Mansoor Nabi, along with Shaista Jan, addressed students on the importance of biodiversity and its role in maintaining ecological balance. They said biodiversity conservation is essential for sustaining ecosystems, protecting wildlife and ensuring environmental stability.

 

Interactive discussions and awareness activities were conducted to help students understand practical methods of managing waste and protecting biodiversity within their communities.

 

Participants interacted with experts during a question-and-answer sessions wherein they shared their views on environmental challenges and possible solutions at the local level.

 

Organisers said the initiative aimed to encourage students to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives and contribute to environmental protection efforts in their surroundings.

 

They reiterated that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and called for collective efforts to promote sustainable living.
