Bandipora, March 14: A day after the multi-level car parking facility at Gulshan Chowk was made functional, the district administration Bandipora on Saturday launched a massive drive against wrong parking in the town to streamline traffic movement.
The joint enforcement drive was led by Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi and carried out by officials of the ARTO office, Municipal Council Bandipora, Traffic Police and Bandipora Police. The drive was conducted on the directions of Indu Kanwal Chib.
During the drive, 40 vehicles were challaned for wrong parking and a fine amounting to ₹32,500 was realised from the violators.
Officials also sensitized drivers about the adverse impact of improper parking on smooth traffic flow and urged them to use the designated parking spaces, particularly the newly operational multi-level car parking facility at Gulshan Chowk.
The administration said such drives will continue to ensure strict enforcement of traffic regulations and to maintain smooth vehicular movement in the town.
