Shopian Police seize 04 Tractors involved in Illegal Mining; 02 FIRs Registered

Shopian, March 04: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining, Police Post Berthipora and police station Keller has seized four tractors involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals in the Berthipora and takwan areas of the district.

During routine patrolling, a police party from Police Post Berthipora intercepted a two tractors engaged in illegal mining activities without mandatory permissions. In this regard FIR No. 09/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Keller and further investigation has been initiated.

In a similar action, police party form Police Station Keller seized two tractors involved in illegal transportation of minerals. Accordingly, case FIR No 10/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Keller and further investigation has been taken up.

Shopian Police reiterates its firm commitment to safeguarding the district’s natural resources and ensuring strict legal action against individuals involved in illegal mining activities. The general public is urged to cooperate with the police by reporting any such unlawful practices. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential and stringent action will be taken against violators.
