Firdous Akhtar’s Tenure as DDC Bandipora Termed ‘Historic’ by Usman Majid’s Cadre

Bandipora, Feb 25: The cadre of senior political leader Usman Majid on Tuesday described the tenure of District Development Council (DDC) Bandipora member Firdous Akhtar as “historic,” as she formally completed her term on February 24, 2026.

In a detailed joint statement issued to Kashmir Convener on Wednesday, the cadre expressed heartfelt gratitude to Firdous Akhtar for what they termed a tenure marked by integrity, transparency and unwavering dedication to public welfare.

They said her time in office stood out for its emphasis on honest governance, grassroots development and people-centric decision-making.

The statement highlighted that throughout her tenure, Firdous Akhtar maintained a reputation for personal and professional integrity, setting what they described as a “rare example” of clean public life in contemporary politics.

According to the cadre, she consistently upheld the highest standards of accountability and ensured that public resources were utilized judiciously and transparently for the larger good of the constituency.

“Her approach to governance was rooted in sincerity and a deep sense of responsibility towards the people,” the statement read, adding that her focus remained firmly on addressing long-pending developmental issues, strengthening infrastructure at the grassroots level and ensuring that welfare schemes reached the most deserving sections of society.

The cadre’s statement further stated that during her tenure in the District Development Council of Bandipora, she prioritized community engagement and participatory governance.
