Gulmarg, Feb 23: As the 6th Khelo India Winter Games commenced in Gulmarg on Monday, a group of artists performing at the opening ceremony shared their heartfelt experience of being in Kashmir, highlighting the region’s peaceful environment and extending an invitation to the nation.

Speaking to Kashmir Convener, members of the Rhythm Dance Company, who have been associated with Khelo India for the past four years said that any fears they previously had have now vanished, and they feel completely at home in the Valley.

“This is our 4th year with Khelo India. We have done events in Delhi and Goa as well,” Aryan a member of the troupe said. “But being in Kashmir feels great. We are proud to represent our country here.

The artists candidly recalled their apprehension during the last edition of the Games held in Kashmir, stating a significant shift in the atmosphere this time around.

“The last Khelo India event in Kashmir was a little scary for everyone,” they admitted. “But now that we are here, we feel at home. Everything is normal. We have tourists from Gulmarg and Srinagar around us. There are no problems.”

Emphasizing the safety and beauty of the Kashmir, the performers urged people from across the country to visit.

“There is nothing to fear. Our army is here. It is a great place,” they added. “Kashmir is the life of India. We get a lot of love here. Everyone should come here. It is heaven.”
