World Radio Day: A Voice, A Heritage, A Lifeline

Radio is not just a medium — it is an emotion. It is feeling, passion, culture, heritage, and civilization woven together through sound. For me, radio has never been merely about broadcasting; it has been a lifelong journey of expressing identity, preserving tradition, and connecting hearts.

Over the past decade, I have continuously strived to promote and preserve our culture, heritage, and civilization through this powerful medium. From my journey with All India Radio Srinagar (Akashvani Radio Srinagar) to Shina Gilgit Radio 88.8 FM, known as Gurez ki Dhadkan, broadcasting has given me countless opportunities to learn, grow, and serve.

The greatest gift radio has given me is a voice — a voice that I can carry to the people, especially to the Dard–Shin Tribal Community of Gurez, Tulail Valley, and Drass (Humas Valley). Through radio, I have been able to reach hearts, share stories, and keep our language and traditions alive.

This medium holds immense meaning in my life. Because of this platform, I have always received immense respect and love from the people. On this World Radio Day, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my community, to everyone who listens to me, watches me, and supports me with sincere love and encouragement.

Radio is my identity, my pride, and my connection to my people.

With deep gratitude,

Suhail Shaheen Lone
