NHPC signs MoU with Bandipora administration for ₹2.77 crore CSR projects

Funds to support health, education, rural development, disaster management and sports projects across the district

Bandipora, Feb 7: Kishanganga Power Station, NHPC Ltd., signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Administration Bandipora on Tuesday to implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives for the financial year 2026–27.

Under the agreement, NHPC has allocated ₹2.77 crore for projects spanning health, nutrition, sanitation, education, skill development, sports, rural development and disaster management.

The MoU was signed by NHPC’s Head of Project Rajesh Ranjan and Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib.

An official spokesperson of NHPC said the approved projects to be implemented during the next financial year include providing of advanced medical equipment such as a floor-mounted full DR X-ray unit, advanced CTG machine, dialysis machines, anesthesia workstation, surgical microscope, CBC hematology analyzer, and other essential healthcare facilities.

The MoU also provides for the construction of six classrooms and toilet facilities in government schools, upgradation of sports infrastructure for the youth of the district, construction of viewpoints to promote tourism, construction of footbridges under the rural development plan for local communities, execution of water management works and support for disaster mitigation measures across the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib appreciated NHPC’s sustained commitment towards community development and emphasized that CSR initiatives must be implemented with the utmost responsibility and accountability.

Highlighting the focus on health, Indu Kanwal Chib said a significant portion of the allocation will be used to strengthen essential health and nutrition services. She stressed that CSR initiatives must be implemented responsibly, aligned with sustainable development goals, and aimed at tangible benefits for local communities.

The Deputy Commissioner added that continued collaboration between the District Administration and NHPC is expected to accelerate developmental initiatives and enhance service delivery across multiple sectors, thereby delivering tangible benefits to the people of Bandipora district.

Addressing the media after signing the MoU, Rajesh Ranjan highlighted the CSR initiatives planned by NHPC Ltd. for the holistic development of District Bandipora, with a substantial portion of the allocation earmarked for strengthening health and nutrition infrastructure.

He said Kishanganga Power Station, NHPC Ltd. continues to support local area development with focused interventions in health, education, and rural development.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Somnath, General Manager (Civil); Mohammad Maqbool Lone, Chief Planning Officer, District Bandipora; Arun Kumar, Deputy General Manager (Civil), NHPC; Manishkant Gaurav, Group Senior Manager (HR); along with other senior officers from the District Administration.
