Tangmarg, Jan 30: For the first time, North Kashmir’s Tangmarg town witnessed a unique patriotic procession—the ‘Shaan-e-Tiranga’ rally—centered around a massive 90-foot-long National Flag.

The event, organized by the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Kashmir unit, saw the Tricolour carried by a group of local students through the main thoroughfare, drawing significant public attention.

The rally, which moved through the landmark Tangmarg Gateway, was designed to promote “national pride, unity, and respect for the Tiranga,” according to the organizers.

The event was marked by palpable enthusiasm from the young participants, many of whom shared their experiences with Kashmir Convener.

“For us, it wasn’t just about carrying a flag. It was about feeling its weight, both physical and symbolic, in our own hometown. This rally has created a deep emotional connection that pages of a textbook cannot,” said Aamir, a college student from Tangmarg.

Another participant, Sheeba, expressed, “Seeing the sea of people, from children to elders, watching with respect as we walked by with the Tiranga was overwhelming. It felt like we were weaving the fabric of the nation right here on our streets.”

“We are the youth of Kashmir, and today we wanted to show our patriotism in the most vibrant way possible. This 90-foot flag is a message of our unity and our dreams for the future,” stated Rohan, a university student.

The rally also resonated deeply with local residents who lined the route.

Mohammad Latif, a shopkeeper near the Gateway, told Kashmir Convener, “In my 60 years here, I haven’t seen a Tiranga of this size in Tangmarg. It was a spectacular and positive sight. It doesn’t belong to any party; it belongs to all of us, and seeing our children lead it fills us with hope.”

A schoolteacher who identified herself as Firdous remarked, “Such visual symbols of patriotism, especially when led by students, have a powerful impact. They foster a sense of belonging and civic pride among the younger generation in a very direct way.”

Speaking to Kashmir Convener, an ABVP Kashmir representative said, “Our primary aim was to instill a profound respect for the Tiranga and the values it represents—courage, peace, and truth. The incredible participation and the emotional response from Tangmarg have exceeded our expectations. It shows the deep-rooted patriotism in the valley.”

Local authorities confirmed that the rally concluded peacefully, with necessary permissions in place and no untoward incidents reported.

Meanwhile, a strong wave of patriotism is sweeping across Kashmir, with visible and fervent displays of national pride becoming commonplace among its people.

Observers note that since the abrogation of Article 370, public expressions of allegiance to the nation have intensified. This sentiment manifests prominently during national events, with Republic Day and Independence Day now witnessing widespread and enthusiastic participation across the valley.
