Republic Day 2026 Celebrated with Patriotic Fervour Across Awantipora and Pampore

Pampore, Jan 26: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and patriotic zeal across Awantipora and Pampore tehsils on Sunday, with the National Tricolour unfurled at key administrative, security and public institutions.
In Awantipora, the main Republic Day celebration was held at the District Police Lines (DPL) Awantipora, where Additional Deputy Commissioner Mushtaq Ahmad Lone unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the march-past. SSP Awantipora Sajad Ahmad attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
Senior officers from the civil administration and police, including SDPO Awantipora, DySP DAR Awantipora, DSP Operations Pampore, Tehsildar Awantipora, Tehsildar Pampore and other officials, were present on the occasion. The ceremonial parade was commanded by DySP Danish Javed.
March-past contingents comprising the CRPF, District Police, JKAP Women Police, Home Guards, Pipe Band and students from various schools participated in the parade, drawing appreciation from the large gathering of spectators. The celebrations were further enlivened by colourful cultural programmes presented by school children and local performers.
Addressing the gathering, ADC Awantipora extended Republic Day greetings to the people and highlighted ongoing developmental works and welfare initiatives in the district. Awards were later presented to the best-performing contingents and cultural participants. Elaborate security arrangements were put in place by the District Police to ensure smooth conduct of the celebrations.
Meanwhile, in Pampore, Republic Day was observed at multiple locations, including the Tehsil Office Pampore, Police Station Pampore, Sub-Divisional Police Office Pampore, Court Complex Pampore, Municipal Committee Pampore, hospitals, educational institutions and other government offices.
At the Tehsil Office Pampore, Tehsildar Mohammad Asif Malik hoisted the National Flag in the presence of SDPO Pampore R.P. Singh, SHO Pampore Khalid Fayaz, tehsil officials, Girdawars, Patwaris, Numberdars, Chowkidars, and representatives from the Fire and Emergency Services, CRPF and various government departments.
Republic Day celebrations were also held at the Sub-Divisional Police Office Pampore, where SDPO Pampore R.P. Singh unfurled the National Flag in the presence of police, CRPF and Fire and Emergency Services personnel. Sweets were distributed among jawans as a mark of appreciation and goodwill.
On the eve of Republic Day, a flag hoisting ceremony was organised at the Pampore Court Complex, where the National Flag was unfurled by Ms Uzma Amin (KCS Judicial), Munsiff/Judicial Magistrate First Class and Chairperson, Tehsil Legal Services Committee Pampore. Addressing the gathering, she underscored the Constitution of India as the cornerstone of justice, equality and the rule of law, and emphasised the responsibility of officers, advocates and court staff to uphold constitutional values with integrity and dedication.
The ceremony was attended by Mohammad Noveed, Assistant Public Prosecutor, SHO Pampore, members of the Bar Association Pampore, court staff and officials of the Tehsil Legal Services Committee, marking a dignified and meaningful observance of the national occasion.
Across Awantipora and Pampore, the Republic Day celebrations reflected a spirit of unity, constitutional values and collective pride, with active participation from the administration, security forces and the public.
