Srinagar, Sep 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has issued 5,73,667 Scheduled Tribe-II certificates to eligible persons belonging to Pahari ethnic groups across the Union Territory, the Legislative Assembly was informed on Thursday.
According to data placed before the House, 5,04,007 certificates have been issued in the Jammu division and 69,660 in the Kashmir division.
Rajouri recorded the highest number with 3,01,091 certificates, followed by Kupwara with 34,224, Baramulla with 29,635, Poonch with 18,435 and Kishtwar with 17,304.
In the Kashmir division, certificates issued included 1,018 in Ganderbal, 836 in Pulwama, 1,290 in Anantnag, 1,735 in Shopian, 347 in Kulgam, 336 in Budgam, 193 in Bandipora and 46 in Srinagar.
The government said certificates are being issued to eligible members of Pahari ethnic groups in accordance with the prescribed criteria. [KNT]
