Darsgah gutted in massive fire at Turkawangam Shopian

Shopian, Jan 25: A Darsgah was gutted in a massive fire that broke out in the Turkawangam area of Shopian district on Sunday, causing extensive damage to the religious structure.

Officials said that soon after the fire erupted, teams from the Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot. Police personnel and locals also joined the operation to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.

Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly, engulfing the Darsgah within a short span of time. Thick smoke and flames were visible from a distance, creating panic among inhabitants of the area.

Though no injuries were reported till the filing of this report, the Darsgah suffered severe damage in the incident. The exact cause of the fire was not immediately known and is being ascertained.
