Shopian, Jan 23: Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to public service, Shopian Police has been extending timely assistance to residents and commuters stranded due to heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions across the district.

Despite harsh conditions, police teams remained deployed on the ground and worked relentlessly to ensure the safety and well-being of the public. The assistance included evacuation of vehicles stuck in deep snow, facilitation of safe movement, on-the-spot help to vulnerable commuters, and clearance of hospital roads to ensure uninterrupted access for emergency medical services.

In one such emergency, on receiving an urgent call from a COPD patient in need of oxygen, Shopian Police immediately arranged an oxygen cylinder from SDH Shopian and delivered it to the patient’s residence at Bon Bazar, Shopian. In another instance, police teams assisted in transporting a patient who was stranded due to heavy snowfall to the hospital, ensuring timely medical care.

The Shopian Police also maintained close coordination with traffic authorities and other allied departments to ensure a smooth response and uninterrupted emergency services during the inclement weather.

Shopian Police once again appeals to the general public to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy snowfall, adhere to official advisories, and strictly follow safety protocols, assuring that the police remain committed to serving the community round the clock.
