Srinagar, Jan 20: The Indian Army successfully organised a Rozgaar Mela (Job Fair) at the Chinar Nau Jawan Club in Uri from January 15 to 20, aimed at empowering unemployed educated youth of Uri tehsil in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative sought to create awareness about government and private sector employment opportunities, address job-related grievances and facilitate access to meaningful livelihoods.
The Rozgaar Mela was organised by the Dagger Division in collaboration with the REACHA Foundation under the aegis of the Chinar Corps. As many as 12 reputed companies participated in the event, offering employment opportunities across diverse sectors including information technology, hospitality, finance and manufacturing. The fair provided a common platform for skilled local youth to directly interact with potential employers.
The primary objective of the initiative was to bridge the gap between employable local talent and industry requirements, while also extending focused support to ex-servicemen and their families, particularly those living in border areas. Besides on-the-spot job opportunities, participants were provided career guidance, counselling and information on various skill development schemes. Job seekers were also guided on registering and exploring future opportunities through the Jammu and Kashmir Employment Portal.
The event received an enthusiastic response from youth, ex-servicemen and their families, who expressed appreciation for the Indian Army’s sustained efforts to address socio-economic challenges in the region. Many participants called for such Rozgaar Melas to be organised on a regular basis to ensure wider outreach and long-term impact.
The Rozgaar Mela reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment to nation-building and community welfare, while further strengthening the bond of trust and cooperation between the Army and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
