Nrityanjali Presents ‘Raas Rang’ at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu

Jammu, Jan 06: Nrityanjali – A Classical Dance Academy, under the banner of Rangyug: A Performing Arts Foundation, presented its annual production “Raas Rang” at Abhinav Theatre on Monday evening.
An official spokesperson said the performance was a devotional tribute to Lord Krishna, blending classical grace, rhythm, and the vibrant spirit of Indian dance.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Pallavi Mishra, SDM Marh, along with Dr Neeraj Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu, and Suresh Sharma, Receiver, Panchvaktar Mandir and Deevana Mandir.
The function was presided over by Padma Shri Prof Lalit Mangotra, while special guests included Hardeep Singh Anand, Chairperson, Jammu Sanskriti School, and Ayurvedic doctor and poet, Dr Anil Mahajan. Director Kritika Dutt read out a message from Kuwarani Dr Ritu Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Pallavi Mishra said, “Raas Rang is not only a cultural presentation but a spiritual journey that connects young minds with the values of devotion, discipline and artistic excellence.”
Prof Lalit Mangotra appreciated the academy’s artistic vision, noting that the performances reflected strong training, refined choreography, and aesthetic depth.
Dr Neeraj Sharma said such productions strengthen regional cultural identity and encourage children to cherish classical traditions.
Dr Anil Mahajan lauded the blend of poetry, rhythm, and devotion, while Hardeep Singh Anand highlighted the academy’s commitment to nurturing young talent.
All dignitaries congratulated Dr Priya Dutta and the Nrityanjali team for presenting a refined and artistically rich classical dance production that celebrated the heritage of Indian classical dance.
Around 50 students performed a series of aesthetically rich and spiritually evocative pieces, opening with a solo by Kritika Dutt and followed by group performances depicting various shades of Krishna Bhakti.
The Sub-Junior Group presented “Kanha Re”, the Senior Girls Group performed “Bhar Bhari”, the Intermediate Group staged “Tarana”, and the programme concluded with “Nirtat Dang”, a traditional composition by Pandit Bindadin Maharaj, performed by the Advance Group.
Narration and compering were done by Rajkumar Behrupia, and a short documentary highlighting Nrityanjali’s 2025 activities was screened.
Costumes were designed by Dr Priya Dutta and stitched by Anjali Boutique, with make-up by Neel David Salon and Renu Ji, music editing by Akash Dogra, and compilation by Lopamudra. Refreshments were arranged by Shikha Jain.
