Literary Forum to Pay Tribute to Prof. Rashid Nazki on His 9th Death Anniversary Today

Bandipora, Jan 06: The ninth death anniversary of eminent Kashmiri litterateur, scholar, critic and intellectual Prof. Rashid Nazki will be observed today, with deep reverence and literary fervour across the Valley.
General Secretary Literary Forum Bandipora, Mansoor Muntazir told Kashmir Convener that the commemoration programme will be held at the Nazki Residence, where a special literary gathering (Majlis-e-Yad) will be held to pay homage to the founder and guiding force whose lifelong dedication played a defining role in shaping modern Kashmiri literary thought.
He said the meeting will be a formal commemoration meeting wherein participants will revisit and reflect upon Prof. Nazki’s monumental contributions to Kashmiri literature, criticism, translation and cultural discourse.
Muntazir said the programme aims to highlight Prof. Nazki’s exemplary role in preserving, enriching and intellectually strengthening the Kashmiri language and its literary traditions.
According to Spokesperson a separate day-long seminar of national level will be held after winter season wherein Renowned poets, critics, academicians and writers are expected to speak on various dimensions of Prof. Rashid Nazki’s personality and work. His scholarly writings, critical insights, translations and fearless intellectual engagement with cultural and social issues will be discussed and appreciated.
He said speakers will reflect on his enduring influence on generations of writers and his role in giving Kashmiri literature wider intellectual and national recognition.
Widely regarded as a towering figure in Kashmiri literature, Prof. Rashid Nazki is often described as an institution in himself. His contributions went far beyond creative writing, encompassing sharp literary criticism, deep engagement with classical and modern traditions, and an unwavering commitment to linguistic and cultural identity.
The literary forum stated that observing his death anniversary is not merely a ritual of remembrance, but a reaffirmation of the values Prof. Nazki stood for—intellectual honesty, cultural rootedness and literary excellence.
