Bandipora, Jan 03: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) on Thursday condemned what it described as a serious violation of party discipline by its District President in Bandipora, asserting that individual actions cannot override collective responsibility or the party’s organisational framework.

In a statement, JKNC District Bandipora spokesperson Prof. Ab Rehman Sheikh said the National Conference is a disciplined, cadre-based party governed by its constitution and internal democratic processes.

He said the conduct of the District President reflected disregard for party discipline and undermined the organisational structure and political ethos of the JKNC.

Sheikh said no individual, irrespective of position, is above the party or its ideology, and that positions within the organisation are a trust that must be exercised with responsibility.

He said such actions weaken unity and harm the party’s credibility at the grassroots level, particularly in a sensitive district like Bandipora.

Strongly condemning the episode, the spokesperson urged the party high command to take strict and exemplary action to ensure that indiscipline is neither repeated nor normalised within the organisation.

He said JKNC workers in Bandipora remain committed to the party’s ideology, the leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and the party’s stated mission of safeguarding the rights and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
