Bandipora, Jan 2: The Jammu & Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF), District Bandipora, on Thursday welcomed the timely redressal of the long-pending issue concerning the grant of Transport Allowance (TA) to teaching staff appointed as Booth Level Officers (BLOs), terming it a positive reflection of the district administration’s responsive approach.

In a statement issued here, JKTF Bandipora said the issue, which was recently taken up by the forum, pertained to the entitlement of Transport Allowance for BLOs in accordance with Finance Department Order No. 472-F of 2019 dated November 28, 2019. The allowance, the forum noted, was particularly justified in view of the extensive verification and electoral roll-related work assigned to teachers as part of election duties.

The forum expressed satisfaction that the matter was resolved within a short span of time, bringing relief to the teaching fraternity engaged in additional election-related responsibilities. It placed on record its gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, for her prompt intervention and positive decision-making.

“Teachers discharging BLO duties work under demanding conditions and shoulder responsibilities beyond their regular academic roles. The timely decision has reaffirmed confidence in the district administration’s commitment to fairness and accountability,” the forum said.

JKTF Bandipora also congratulated Mohd Shafi Tantrey, Chairman of the BLO Association and Zonal President of JKTF Quil Mukam, for what it described as exemplary leadership. According to the forum, Tantrey, along with his team, met the Deputy Commissioner and presented the issue in a constructive and dignified manner, which played a crucial role in its resolution.

The forum observed that effective coordination between responsible employee leadership and a responsive administration helps strengthen institutional trust and ensures justice for employees working at the grassroots level.

Reiterating its appreciation, JKTF Bandipora thanked the Deputy Commissioner for addressing the issue efficiently and upholding the principles of fairness, transparency, and administrative responsiveness.
