JKASW, DLSA Bandipora Organise Young Women Achievers Programme

Bandipora December, 24 : The Jammu and Kashmir Association of Social Workers, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bandipora, organized Young Women Achievers Event today at Auditorium Hall, Kaloosa Bandipora aimed at celebrating the accomplishments of young women and inspiring them to become active, confident stakeholders in society.
The programme highlighted the crucial role of women in social development, legal empowerment, and community leadership, while also spreading awareness about the availability of free legal services for women and vulnerable groups.
The event was designed to felicitate women achievers who have made remarkable and commendable contributions in their respective domains, serving as role models and sources of inspiration for young girls across the region. The conclave highlighted the importance of equal opportunities, empowerment, and recognition of women’s achievements in building a just and inclusive society.
The programme was graced by distinguished guests including Waseem Farooq, DFO Bandipora; Gowher Ahmed, Protection Officer ICPS Bandipora; Muntazir Muneer, Zonal Cultural Coordinator Hajin; Nazia Parveen, representative from DLSA Bandipora; along with Khursheed Ahmad Farash, Lead Adolescent Programme, JKASW; Kulsum Bhat, Project Manager; the Koor Che Noor project team, volunteers, and a large gathering of women achievers.
Advocate Toiba Tabasum, Deputy Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC), Bandipora, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of legal literacy among young women.
She explained the provisions of free and competent legal aid under the Legal Services Authorities Act and encouraged participants to approach Legal Aid Clinics whenever they face legal challenges. She further stressed that informed women are better equipped to protect their rights and contribute meaningfully to their families and communities.
Advocate Nazia Parveen, Assistant LADC, Bandipora, also spoke on the occasion and highlighted issues relating to women’s safety, domestic violence, cyber harassment, workplace rights, and gender equality. She urged participants to raise their voices against injustice and assured that DLSA will continue extending support through its legal aid mechanisms, counseling services, and awareness programmes.
The event also recognized several young women achievers from different fields, acknowledging their dedication, resilience, and contribution to society. Participants interacted with the resource persons, shared their experiences, and discussed the challenges faced by young women in present times.
