Srinagar, Dec 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Tuesday announced the constitution of its National Executive Council (NEC) in a significant step aimed at strengthening the organisation’s decision-making framework and enhancing coordination at the national level to effectively address issues faced by students from Jammu and Kashmir.
The newly formed NEC will function as the second-highest decision-making body of JKSA, after the Central Working Committee (CWC). It is mandated to ensure effective coordination, communication and strategic planning across various states, while offering policy recommendations, facilitating timely decisions, overseeing programme implementation and liaising with the Central and State governments for the redressal of student-related issues.
Mushtaq Habeeb has been nominated as the Chairman of the National Executive Council, while Danish Lone has been appointed as Vice Chairman. The council comprises senior and experienced members including Nasir Khuehami, Davood Peer, Aadil Bhat, Umar Jamal, Faizan Peer, Dr Zubair Reshi, Sheikh Azhar, Peerzada Mahboob-ul-Haq, Munawar Mehraj, Mir Zubair, Krishna Saproo, Manzoor Wani, Mubashir Ahmad, Rahool Banka, Shakir Parray and Hasnain Rocky.
The NEC will serve as a vital link between the Central Working Committee and JKSA’s state and district units, ensuring a seamless flow of information, collective leadership and prompt redressal of grievances. It will also play a key role in organisational expansion, leadership development, crisis response mechanisms and strengthening JKSA’s institutional presence across the country.
Expressing confidence in the newly constituted body, JKSA Chairman Mushtaq Habeeb said the NEC brings together committed and capable individuals who will work collectively for the welfare and betterment of the student community of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasised that unity, coordination and sustained collective effort are essential to make JKSA a stronger, more responsive and effective platform for students nationwide.
