Bandipora, December 11: In a significant boost to urban infrastructure, the J&K Government has accorded administrative approval for Rs two crores for major developmental works and overall beautification of Bandipora Town, under the Finance Commission (FC) Grants.

The approval follows a formal proposal moved earlier this year by MLA Bandipora, Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, who had written to the Principal Secretary on 23 June 2025, seeking funds up to ₹4 crore for comprehensive beautification of the town while highlighting the need for market development, improved pathways, and aesthetic enhancement across Bandipora.

According to an official order issued by the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, the sanctioned amount will fund construction of lanes, drains, link roads, graveyard development, and multiple beautification projects within the municipal limits. The works will be carried out strictly as per the approved DPR and within the timelines set by the tendering authorities.

Welcoming the development, MLA Bandipora Nizamuddin Bhat congratulated the residents of the town and said the funding approval was the result of persistent efforts by his office.

“Congratulations to the people of Bandipora Town! Administrative Approval has been accorded for ₹200 lakh for major developmental works and overall beautification of the town. This has been made possible through the consistent efforts of my office, as the project was proposed under the UT Capex Plan. With focus on transparency, quality and timely execution, these works are expected to bring visible improvement and long-term benefits to Bandipora Town,” the MLA said in an official statement.

The order also lays down strict conditions regarding financial discipline, quality checks, transparency measures, and documentary evidence—ensuring that no cost escalation or diversion of funds takes place during execution.

The works are expected to address key civic gaps in Bandipora’s urban areas, particularly drainage, internal connectivity, and public convenience infrastructure. Municipal Council Bandipora and the concerned R&B Division have been directed to take necessary action for timely execution.

Residents have welcomed the move, expressing hope that the upcoming projects will bring lasting improvements to the town’s civic landscape.
