Terrorists Poised to Infiltrate from 69 Launch Pads Along LoC in Kashmir: IG BSF Ashok Yadav

Srinagar, Dec 01: The Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) for Kashmir divison, Ashok Yadav, stated that intelligence indicates terrorists are positioned to attempt infiltration from 69 operational launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC). He asserted that Indian security forces remain on high alert and are fully prepared to thwart any such attempts.
“We are prepared not only to meet every challenge but to decisively foil all infiltration attempts on our side. To ensure the safety of the valley, we are maintaining vigilance from every dimension,” IG Yadav emphasized.
Addressing the media, the senior BSF commander as per per Kashmir Convener indicated that the Pakistan Army, in collusion with terrorist groups, has been conducting reconnaissance activities along the LoC. The intelligence wing of the BSF has shared critical inputs regarding these terrorist movements with the Indian Army, he stated.
In the hinterland, security forces are operating in a tightly coordinated manner, with the BSF working alongside the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Indian Army.
IG Yadav also reported persistent drone activity monitored along the LoC but confirmed that no successful infiltration has occurred via this method to date. Comparing the current situation to the previous year, he noted a measurable reduction in infiltration attempts. However, he warned that terrorists are increasingly probing new and alternative routes in their efforts to cross from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Earlier on Saturday, at an event commemorating the force’s 60th anniversary, IG BSF Jammu, Shashank Anand, underscored the BSF’s pivotal role in past conflicts, continuous border security, and counter-terrorism operations.
The officer outlined the significant challenges confronted by the force on both its eastern and western fronts this year.
On the Eastern Front, IG Anand pointed to the recent political transition in Bangladesh as a period of considerable sensitivity along the 4,000-kilometer Indo-Bangladesh border. “It was a very sensitive period, with apprehensions of large-scale illegal migration,” he stated. “However, the BSF effectively prevented such infiltration, thereby ensuring national security. We not only stopped fresh attempts but also facilitated the repatriation of individuals who had entered illegally in the past.”
On the Western Front, addressing the aftermath of the April 26 Pahalgam attack, IG Anand described the subsequent Operation SINDOOR as India’s definitive response to neutralize terrorism at its source. He stated that the operation targeted terrorist infrastructure across the border. “Pakistan misinterpreted this defensive counter-terrorism action as an act of aggression and has, in effect, sustained an undeclared war against India,” IG Anand said, highlighting the ongoing asymmetric threats faced by the force.
