KTMF Visits Flood-Hit Beerwah, Seeks Relief for Affected Traders

Federation assures support, lauds police for timely rescue during flash floods

Beerwah, July 22: A delegation of the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF), led by its President Mohammad Yaseen Khan, on Tuesday visited flash flood-hit Beerwah to express solidarity with traders who suffered heavy losses in the recent disaster.

The delegation inspected the damaged market area, where several shops were extensively damaged and a shopping complex was washed away by the floodwaters. It also interacted with the affected traders and assured them of the Federation’s support during the difficult time.

Later, the delegation met office-bearers of the Beerwah Local Traders Federation to assess the extent of the damage and discuss the concerns of the trading community. President of the local federation, Mohammad Irshad, apprised the visiting team of the extensive losses suffered by traders, including damage to shops, merchandise and business infrastructure.

Speaking on the occasion, KTMF President Mohammad Yaseen Khan assured the affected traders that the Federation would take up the matter with the government to seek timely relief, adequate compensation and a comprehensive rehabilitation package.

Khan also commended the prompt response of the local police during the flash floods, saying their timely rescue efforts helped prevent loss of life and reflected their commitment to public service.

He said small traders form the backbone of the local economy and deserve timely financial assistance to help them rebuild their businesses. He reiterated that KTMF would continue to pursue the matter with the administration to ensure that genuine traders receive adequate compensation and all possible support for the restoration of their livelihoods.

The delegation comprised senior KTMF functionary Qazi Tauseef, President Narbal Traders Association Mohammad Muzaffar, Patron Narbal Traders Association Abdul Ahad Parray, President Magam Traders Federation Mir Ulfat, General Secretary Magam Traders Federation Ajaz Abdullah, senior member Manzoor Ahmad Dar, President Shalteng Traders Association Bilal Ahmad Dar and other members, who also expressed solidarity with the affected traders.

The delegation concluded the visit by praying for the well-being of those affected and reiterating KTMF’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the trading community across Jammu and Kashmir.
