Pampore Bids Emotional Farewell to Veteran Sports Teacher Ravinder Kour After Three Decades of Service

Pampore, Nov 29: The educational and sporting fraternity of Pampore on Friday paid rich tribute to Ravinder Kour, a senior Physical Education Teacher of the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Zone Pampore, as she approaches retirement after more than three decades of dedicated service.
Ms Kour, who served the department for nearly 32–35 years, has been widely acknowledged as one of the most committed and inspiring mentors of the region. Throughout her long career, she worked tirelessly to promote sports among school children while simultaneously nurturing discipline, confidence, and character in thousands of young minds.
Well known for her calm presence and unwavering dedication, Ms Kour played a vital role as a coach, mentor, escort teacher, and guardian for students, particularly girl athletes, during district, inter-district, and out-of-state competitions. Parents across Pampore and adjoining areas reposed deep trust in her, often citing her as a symbol of safety, integrity, and compassionate guidance for their children.
During her service, she actively promoted and trained students in a wide range of sports disciplines, including cricket, football, volleyball, hockey, table tennis, martial arts, and athletics. Beyond developing sporting skills, she focused on building qualities such as teamwork, courage, resilience, and self-belief, using the playground as a classroom for holistic learning.
Officials and colleagues said Ms Kour also took keen interest in sports festivals, awareness programmes, and inter-school activities, ensuring maximum student participation and encouraging cultural and extracurricular engagement alongside physical education.
Members of the Department of Youth Services & Sports, fellow teachers, parents, and students described her contribution as “immeasurable,” stating that her quiet leadership helped shape a sporting culture across Zone Pampore.
As she steps into retirement, the community has expressed heartfelt gratitude for her lifelong service to youth development and sports promotion. Many recalled her unwavering commitment, gentle discipline, and selfless dedication as qualities that will continue to inspire future generations.
“Her legacy lives in the confidence of the children she trained and the values she instilled,” senior department officials said, wishing her a peaceful and fulfilling post-retirement life.
