Bandipora: The 19th District Bandipora Table Tennis Championship organized by District Table Tennis Association Bandipora concluded at S.K Sports Stadium Bandipora, here on Monday. The championship was held under the aegis of J&K Table Tennis Association and in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under “My Youth, My Pride” initiative.
In the event, around 60 participants in both boys and girls from various age categories participated. In senior men Junaid Iqbal defeated Imran Ramzan by 3-2, In Under 19 (boys) Muzain Zahoor defeated Suhaib Rafiq by 3-2, In Under 17 (boys) Farhan defeated Irfan Shamshad by 3-0, while in Under 13 (boys) Kashif Azad defeated Mohammad Zakir by 3-1.
In the Under 19 (girls) category Shagufta Reyaz defeated Shagufta Mushtaq by 3-1. In Under 17 (girls) category Mehak Rafiq defeated Saima Javaid by 3-0 while in Under 13 (girls) category Arbeena Gul defeated Shabnam Javaid by 3-2 in finals.
Farooq Ahmad, Chairman Universal Educational Trust Bandipora was the chief guest of the closing ceremony while Mr Ayaz Ahmad, Manager S.K Sports Stadium Bandipora was the guest of honour.
While addressing the event, Chairman Universal Educational Trust Bandipora, appreciated the efforts of the organizers for providing a constructive platform for youth and encouraged participants to continue pursuing excellence in the field of sports especially Table Tennis.
Spokesperson of the District Table Tennis Association Bandipora extended his gratitude to J&K Sports Council, officials, participating schools, coaches and all volunteers whose coordinated efforts ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
“The Association is committed in continuing its efforts to elevate sports culture in the district and provide platforms for young participants to excel at state and national levels”, he further said.
