Bandipora Police Launches Massive Drive to Inspect SIM Card Vendors Across District

Bandipora, November 8: In a major step to strengthen public safety and communication security, Bandipora Police on Friday launched a district-wide inspection drive of SIM card vendors.

An official spokesperson said the special drive has been initiated to curb the misuse of SIM cards for criminal, fraudulent, or terror-related activities, and to ensure strict compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) norms and telecom regulations.

Police teams from all Police Stations and Police Posts across Bandipora carried out thorough inspections of mobile SIM vendors operating within their respective jurisdictions. During these inspections, officers focused on verifying customer identity proofs, checking the maintenance of proper records, and ensuring that SIM cards are issued only to genuine users with valid documents.

Officials said that any vendor found violating telecom or KYC regulations will face strict legal action, which may include penalties, cancellation of license, or prosecution under the relevant provisions of law.

Bandipora Police also appealed to the public to cooperate during the inspection process and to ensure that SIM cards registered in their names are not misused by others. Citizens have been urged to promptly report any suspicious activity or irregular SIM issuance to the nearest police station or through the District Police Helpline.

A senior police officer said that the initiative is part of ongoing preventive measures to ensure that communication networks in the district are not exploited for unlawful or anti-national purposes.

“Bandipora Police remains committed to maintaining the integrity of communication systems and public trust by preventing their misuse in any form,” the officer added.
