Srinagar, Oct 30: The Health and Medical Education Department has confirmed that the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Dawar, Gurez, acts as the primary referral center for Bandipora’s Gurez valley.
The information was provided in a written reply to Gurez MLA Nazir Ahmad Khan during the ongoing Autumn session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly a copy of the reply is with Kashmir Convener.
According to the department, SDH Dawar functions as the First Referral Unit (FRU) for all Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and New Type Primary Health Centres (NTPHCs) in Block Gurez. While patients needing a higher level of care are referred to SDH Dawar, those in critical condition requiring advanced treatment are transferred to the District Hospital in Bandipora.
The reply reads, Currently, a team of 15 doctors, including three consultants (two surgeons and one physician), is providing healthcare services to the local population.
