Bandipora, Oct 30: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora, Ajaz Ahmed Zargar (JKPS), on Wednesday highlighted a series of programmes being organised across the district to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrated nationwide with great enthusiasm.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Zargar underscored the importance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), observed every year on October 31, to honour the legacy of the Iron Man of India. He said that Sardar Patel’s visionary leadership was instrumental in integrating more than 560 princely states into a united India, laying the strong foundation of national unity.
“Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s life continues to inspire generations. His steadfast commitment to unity, peace, and integrity serves as a guiding light for our nation’s progress,” the SSP remarked.
He informed that several events have been planned under the ‘Ekta Diwas’ celebrations in Bandipora, focusing on promoting the spirit of unity, national integration, and harmony among citizens. The major highlight of the celebrations, he said, will be the ‘Run for Unity’ event scheduled for October 31 (Thursday), which will witness enthusiastic participation from students, police personnel, and members of civil society.
“These activities are not just a tribute to Sardar Patel’s invaluable contributions but also an effort to inspire the youth to uphold the ideals of national cohesion and collective strength,” SSP Zargar said.
He further appealed to the people of Bandipora, especially the younger generation, to participate in large numbers in the ‘Run for Unity’ and help make it a grand success, reinforcing the message of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.
