Srinagar–Bandipora–Gurez Road Likely to Get National Highway Status: ‘Nitin Gadkari Responds Positively’
Srinagar, Oct 27: In a significant development for north Kashmir’s connectivity, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has conveyed a positive response to MLA Bandipora Nizamuddin Bhat regarding the long-pending demand to accord National Highway status to the Srinagar–Bandipora–Gurez Road.
The proposal, which holds immense importance for regional development and strategic accessibility, is currently under active consideration by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Confirming the development, MLA Nizamuddin Bhat said he had been consistently pursuing the matter with the central government to improve road connectivity and boost socio-economic growth in the region.
“The latest communication from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirms that the proposal is receiving serious attention from the Ministry,” Bhat stated, adding that he wished to dispel doubts surrounding the project’s progress.
Expressing gratitude to the Union Minister for his positive communication and active consideration, Bhat said he was hopeful that the National Highway status for the Srinagar–Bandipora–Gurez Road would be approved soon.
He also appealed for cooperation from the other two MLAs of Bandipora district, urging them to work collectively to realize this long-cherished dream of the people.
