Kupwara Approves 324 Projects under HADP, JKCIP to Strengthen Rural Economy
KUPWARA, OCTOBER 7: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Shrikant Suse chaired the meeting of District Level Committee to review the progress under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), the Jammu and Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP) and other allied schemes today.
The meeting was aimed to evaluate and approve eligible applications received from various Agriculture and Allied Departments.
On the occasion, 197 cases were approved under HADP which include 111 cases under Agriculture, 45 of Horticulture, 35 of Animal Husbandry, 3 each of Area Marketing and Fisheries department. Under JKCIP, a total of 127 cases including 90 of Sheep Husbandry, 36 of Agriculture and 01 of Area Marketing were also approved.
Under JKCIP, beneficiaries will be extended assistance for installation of borewells, cultivation of aromatic species, Shallot, hill garlic, mushroom, saffron area expansion, development of high-yield orchards, solar fencing, construction of sheep sheds, supply of trolleys, and other modern interventions aimed at improving productivity and sustainability.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that HADP mark a significant step towards improving farmers’ access to modern infrastructure, sustainable practices, and diversified income avenues. He added that the agriculture and allied sectors are the backbone of the rural economy, and interventions like these are instrumental in providing direct livelihood support, skill enhancement, and better market competitiveness to farmers and youth.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to facilitate speedy implementation of approved cases and provide handholding support to all the beneficiaries.
He specifically directed to focus on establishment of units after approval and their tracking.
The meeting was attended by the officers of the concerned line departments.
