Bandipora Hail Storm:  NC’s Advocate Nazir Malik calls for urgent relief, says farmers pushed into financial distress

Bandipora, August 24: Advocate Nazir Ahmad Malik, Constituency Incharge JKNC Bandipora, has expressed deep concern over the heavy damage caused by the hailstorm that struck yesterday in various parts of the district.
In a stament issued to Kashmir Convener, Advocate Malik said the villages of Watapora, Nathpora, Pazalpora, Mantrigam, Bankote, Kralpora and adjoining areas have been severely hit, with reports of extensive damage to orchards and standing crops.
“In particular, the apple orchards of Pazalpora and surrounding belts have suffered immense losses, causing distress to hundreds of families who are directly dependent on farming for their livelihood”.
Advocate Malik urged the District Administration Bandipora to immediately take cognizance of the matter, carry out a thorough assessment of the losses, and ensure that timely relief and compensation is provided to the affected orchardists and farmers.
“Horticulture and agriculture are not just sources of income but the very backbone of Bandipora’s economy. Thousands of families depend on these sectors for survival, and such natural calamities push them into deep financial distress. It is therefore imperative upon the administration to extend all possible assistance to the affected families without any delay,” Malik said.
He further assured the growers that the issue will be taken up with higher authorities to safeguard their interests and provide them with the much-needed support in this hour of crisis.
