Two Drug Peddlers Arrested in Pampore; Brown Sugar, Cash Seized

PAMPORE, May 22: In a continued crackdown against drug peddling, police in Awantipora arrested two alleged drug peddlers in the Pampore area on Wednesday, recovering contraband substances and cash suspected to be proceeds of narcotic sales.
According to police, a naka checking was established at Kadlabal Pampore by a team from Police Station Pampore led by SHO DySP (Probationary) Shravan Singh and supervised by SDPO Pampore R.P. Singh. During the checking, two individuals moving under suspicious circumstances were apprehended.
The arrested persons were identified as Firdous Ahmad Mir alias ‘Fir Codein’, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, a resident of Kadlabal Pampore, and Sahil Shafi Khan, son of Mohammad Shafi Khan, a resident of Dalgate Srinagar.
Police said that upon search, the officers recovered 2.25 grams of brown sugar-like substance and cash amounting to ₹12,000 from their possession. The money is believed to be proceeds from the sale of narcotic substances.
The duo has been taken into custody and shifted to the police station where they remain lodged. A case under FIR No. 57/2025 has been registered at Police Station Pampore under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.
Police have urged the public to cooperate and share information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhoods. “Persons found indulging in drug trafficking will face strict legal action,” a police spokesperson said. “Our sustained efforts against drug peddlers aim to reassure the community that we are committed to a drug-free society.”
