Rajouri, April 30: In a move aimed at improving educational infrastructure in remote border villages, the Indian Army has provided 61 school desks to five government schools in Tehsil Beripattan, Rajouri district.
The initiative comes in response to observations made during earlier visits, where it was found that students were forced to sit on bare floors due to the lack of basic classroom furniture. The absence of desks was not only affecting the learning experience but also impacting the health and morale of the children.
Taking note of the urgent need, the Army stepped in to address the issue and handed over the desks during a function attended by teachers, students, and local residents. The intervention has been widely appreciated by the community, bringing a sense of pride and joy among the beneficiaries.
Located in the Sunderbani sector, the schools have long struggled with inadequate infrastructure due to their remote and difficult terrain. The newly provided desks are expected to significantly improve classroom conditions, promote academic engagement, and boost the overall morale of both students and teaching staff.
The gesture is part of the Army’s broader efforts to support education and community development in border areas under its civic action programme.
