Srinagar, April 24: Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (JKPDF) and former minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has called on the Union government to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students across India amid reports of harassment and discrimination.
“In recent weeks, there have been multiple incidents where Kashmiri students have been bullied, beaten, and even forced to vacate their hostels or rented accommodations,” Yaseen said. He appealed directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the chief ministers of all states to intervene and provide necessary protection for students and traders from Jammu and Kashmir.
Yaseen stressed that the current climate of fear is affecting the academic and personal lives of young Kashmiris studying away from home. “I request the Union government to please ensure the safety of Kashmiri students across the country,” he said.
The JKPDF leader urged authorities to deploy adequate security measures, establish dedicated helplines, and enforce strict legal action against perpetrators to restore a sense of safety and trust among the Kashmiri community.
