JKGLTF Delegation Meets Deputy CM, Highlights Key Demands

Jammu, January 7, 2025: A delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) met Deputy Chief Minister Jinab Surinder Choudhary today at the Jammu Secretariat. The delegation congratulated the Deputy CM on the recent change in the academic session, expressing their belief that it would significantly benefit students across the Union Territory.

During the meeting, the delegation presented a detailed memorandum of demands, which were discussed point by point. Key demands included Restoration of the old pension scheme, Timely promotions for teachers to master, and from teacher and master to lecturer, Release of 3% Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears due since July 2024, Grant of two increments to employees appointed under SRO 202, Release of 2% and 1% House Rent Allowance (HRA) for employees in urban and rural areas, respectively, Filling vacant positions of headmasters and principals to address issues of headless schools, Confirmation of headmasters, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), lecturers, principals, and Chief Education Officers (CEOs), Increase in salaries of vocational teachers and enhancement of monthly honorarium for cook-cum-helpers and Creation of a Teacher Welfare Fund.

According to spokesperson the Deputy Chief Minister assured the delegation of a patient hearing and promised that all their issues would be addressed on a priority basis.

Spokesperson said the meeting was seen as a step forward in addressing the concerns of teaching professionals in Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at improving the education system and welfare of the teaching fraternity in the region..
