Young Cricketer Kanchan Kumari Dies in Road Accident; YSS Directorate Condoles

Srinagar, Sept 11: The sports fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir was left in shock on Wednesday after the tragic death of Ms. Kanchan Kumari, a young cricketer and Rehbar-e-Khel Physical Education Teacher from Sports Zone Satwari, who lost her life in a fatal accident.

The Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) expressed deep grief over the untimely demise of the budding sportsperson. Anuradha Gupta, Director General, YSS, while mourning the loss, described Kumari as a dedicated and dynamic talent whose contribution to cricket and sports development in J&K was promising.

“We are devastated by the loss of such a promising young talent. Kanchan Kumari was a committed sportsperson who represented the vibrant future of cricket in J&K,” Gupta said in her condolence message.

Extending sympathies to the bereaved family, Gupta added, “In this hour of immense grief, our thoughts and prayers are with the family members of Kanchan. We pray to the Almighty to give them the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”

The YSS Directorate, in its condolence message, also joined the family in praying for eternal peace to the departed soul.

The sudden passing of Kumari, who was actively involved in both playing and promoting sports at the grassroots level, has created a deep void in the Union Territory’s sporting circles. Colleagues, students, and fellow athletes remembered her as a passionate individual who inspired many young girls to take up sports, particularly cricket, as a career.
