X-ray plant lying defunct at DH Bandipora; hits patient care

BANDIPORA, AUGUST 19: The Digital X-ray plant at the District Hospital Bandipora is lying defunct at District Hospital Bandipora from past 21 days causing severe inconvenience to the patients.
The hospital witnesses a huge rush of people owing to huge catchment area and owing to the defunct X-ray plant, patients especially belonging to economically weaker section of society are facing tremendous hardships as they are forced to visit private clinics.
Locals said despite several reminders and pleas to authorities, the machine has not been repaired so far, causing trouble to hundreds of patients who must either go to expensive private clinics or travel long distances for getting an X-Ray done.
One local resident said that the machine had developed some fault three weeks ago but the hospital authorities have not been able to repair it since, leaving them dependent on private diagnostic centers.
The patients especially critical patients are facing lots of problems due to lack of the facility inside the hospital,” said Mohammad Umer Khan who was attending an emergency patient.
Locals blamed hospital authorities of carelessness and held them responsible for the damage caused to the digital X-Ray plant.
Medical Superintendent DH Bandipora, Dr Bashir Ahmad said he has taken up the issue with the concerned higher ups and the same shall be repaired at earliest. He said there is only one company in the valley that is repairing these digital plants and hence takes time to repair the plant.
Residents appeal District Development Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad to personally intervene in the matter to get the plant repairs or find alternative for the same. (PTK)
