World Youth Skills day celebrated in Bandipora

Bandipora, July 09: As part of World Youth Skills Day celebration, Mosaic work skills Pvt, a Project Implementing Agency (PIA)  of  Governemnt’s Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), organized a daylong  seminar highlighting the importance of skill development to curb unemployment.

The theme for this year's event is, "Learning to learn for life and work" with the focus and lifelong learning and raising awareness about the importance of youth skills development.

Speaking on the occasion Project Manager, Sheikh Taqwa highlighted the importance of skill trainings in the state and said that the  training the youth in different skills is the only way ti fight unemployment in the state as the skilled youth can never be unemployed and can get jobs anywhere.

          She said under the PMKVY, the organization is training students in different tradesaccording to market demand so that the students are get their jobs easily. She said preparing students for the world market in different sectors is the only option to tackle the unemployment as an unskilled youth cannot compete in the world market.

          Taqwa said the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) implemented by National Skill Development Corporation. She said the objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood. “Individuals with prior learning experience or skills are also assessed and certified under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)” she added.

          Speakers said under Skill India, a number of initiatives are aimed at developing skills and promoting entrepreneurship among youth and the central government has set a target of skilling 40.2 crore people in India by 2022, under the new National Policy for Skill Development, in which 54 percent of people will be skilled in agriculture sector.

          On the occasion several debates and discussions were held regarding the topic in which students participated and expressed their views. Students including Naveed Anjum, JAsira, Afreen, Madiha , Rabia and Maroofa participated in the discussion and presented their papers regarding the theme of the program.  A Question/Answer session was also organized at the end oif thr program in which participants raised several queries with regard to Skill India initiative.
