World Tourism Day Celebrated in Chandaji, Bandipora

Bandipora, Sept 27: World Tourism Day was observed today in Chandaji under the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan, highlighting the region’s potential for tourism development and its role in generating livelihoods for local communities.

During the program, Tourism Researcher and Promoter Shabnam Bashir informed that under the Abhiyan, ₹3 lakh will be provided by government for homestay development and ₹5 lakh for the construction of community halls and new infrastructure.

Officials said the initiative aims to enhance tourism facilities while providing sustainable income opportunities for residents.

Templates were distributed among children and youth to encourage their participation and awareness in tourism promotion. At the Eco Park in Chandaji, 12 youth are expected to be employed this year, creating new livelihood avenues.

Officials highlighted opportunities to showcase local products, including honey and traditional chicken-based foods, as part of tourism promotion.

Spokesperson said this effort is intended not only to preserve the cultural identity of the region but also to strengthen the local economy. Additionally, local horses are expected to contribute to income generation while promoting eco-friendly and sustainable tourism practices.

He said the event underscored the importance of tourism in creating economic opportunities, preserving cultural heritage, and fostering community engagement in Bandipora’s developing tourism sector.
