Work on Rs 4.3 Cr Sumerbugh drainage project to start soon

BUDGAM, MARCH 08: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Budgam, Khurshid Ahmad Sanai today said that work on the Rs. 4.30 crore drainage project/ STP will be started soon at Housing Colony Sumerbugh to address water logging problem.

The ADDC made these remarks during his visit to the Colony to take stock of the facilities of the rehabilitated Chount Khul and Dal dwellers.

He was accompanied by SDM Chadoora, Aziz Ahmad, Tehsildar BK Pora, Shahbaz Boda, BDO BK Pora, Ajaz Ahmad, officials from SMC, SDA, PWD Budgam and other different departments.

The ADDC said that on the completion of the mega drainage/STP project the water logging problem in the colony will be resolved.

He informed that over 60 houses will be constructed at the identified sites for the   rehabilitation of leftout families shifted from Chount Khul and adjoining Dal lake areas. He said that the work on these projects will be started soon by the concerned departments.

He said that over 160 families have been rehabilitated and provided houses at the Colony under JNNURM so far.

Meanwhile, the ADDC directed the concerned to immediately start dewatering of the water logged patches, roads and residential premises and asked them to put dewatering pumps into service for the same on war footing basis.

On the occasion, the ADDC led officers’ team also met local residents and listened to their demands.
