NEW DELHI, October 26: The Indian Army’s Western Command will organise the second Mechanisation Technology Seminar (MTS 2.0) at Chandimandir Military Station on December 14 and 15 to explore ways to upgrade existing military platforms for future combat requirements.
The seminar, themed ‘CHAKRA – Transforming Existing Platforms for Future Combat’, will bring together representatives of the Army, defence industry and academia to discuss technological advancements and ways to enhance the capabilities of mechanised forces.
Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, inaugurated the curtain raiser for the seminar at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi on October 26. The event was organised by Western Command in collaboration with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM).
The initiative aims to transform existing military platforms into technologically advanced and combat-ready systems, with a focus on addressing operational capability gaps and preparing mechanised forces for evolving battlefield requirements.
According to the Defence Ministry, the seminar will focus on combat capability enhancement, technology adoption, adaptability, kinetic capabilities, refurbishment and self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
A key objective is to translate operational requirements into clearly defined Problem Definition Statements (PDS), enabling the defence industry and academia to develop practical technological solutions for the Army.
The curtain raiser also highlighted the importance of technology-driven modernisation and collaboration between military users, industry representatives and researchers in developing indigenous defence capabilities.
