The drive was held under the guidance of the District Administration Pulwama and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Pulwama, and was organised by the Block Medical Officer (BMO) Pampore. The initiative aimed to ensure the health and safety of pilgrims from Pampore, Awantipora, and Kakapora tehsils falling under the Pampore health block—by vaccinating them as a precautionary measure against contagious diseases during the Hajj pilgrimage, officials told Kashmir Convener.
According to health officials, a total of 116 Hajj pilgrims in the health block Pampore and 89 pilgrims vaccinated following thorough medical check-ups by the team of doctors. The pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made at the hospital and appreciated the efforts of the health authorities and supporting staff of SDHPampore.
The drive witnessed the presence of BMO Pampore Dr. Mohammad Yousuf, Registard Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Bilal Ahmad, Noman Hussain Andrabi, along with a team of doctors, vaccination staff, and other healthcare workers.
During their interaction with the pilgrims, BMO Dr. Mohammad Yousuf and RMO Dr. Bilal Ahmad congratulated them on being selected for the sacred journey and urged them to pray for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of the community.
Speaking to Kashmir Convener, Block Medical Officer Pampore Dr Mohammad Yousuf said that a vaccination drive was conducted for Hajj pilgrims associated with the medical block Pampore, which includes pilgrims from Kakapora, Awantipora tehsils and Pampore tehsil including areas like Samboora, Wuyan, and Khrew. The vaccination took place at SDH Pampore.
He said that today’s vaccination drive includes two categories of vaccines one is the routine vaccination for the Hajj pilgrims, and the other is the influenza vaccine for those aged 60 above. Both types of vaccinations were administered here today at SDH Pampore.
He said that for the convenience of Hajj pilgrims, they had set up a registration counter after which their general check-up is done before vaccination.
