Two HKM College Students to represent Kashmir in Pencak Silat National Championship

Bandipora, Jan 11: Two young athletes from Hassan Shah Khuehami Memorial (HKM) Degree College Bandipora are all set to represent Kashmir in the upcoming All India Inter-University Pencak Silat Championship for Women at at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

An official spokesperson of the HKM College said their two students including Sabahat Afreen and Tabinda Majeed, have earned the honour of representing the University of Kashmir at the upcoming All India Inter-University Pencak Silat Championship for Women. The championship is scheduled to take place at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, from January 24th to 26th this year.

He said the journey to this prestigious competition began with the Pencak Silat inter-university trials held at the University of Kashmir, Srinagar.

“Sabahat Afreen's exceptional performance not only caught the eye but also reflected her unwavering dedication and skill in the discipline. Alongside her, Tabinda Majeed showcased commendable skills, earning herself a well-deserved spot for the Nationals,” HKM College said in the statement.

As the duo from HKM GDC Bandipora gears up for the national stage, their achievements at the trials have not only secured them a chance at the prestigious competition but also brought pride to their institution. “The national championship, scheduled from January 24th to 26th, 2024, in Amritsar, awaits their spirited representation,” spokesperson added.

Principal of the College Professor (Dr.) Masood Ahmad Malik wished success to both the students and hoped that they will bring laurels to the UT. “In their pursuit of excellence, the entire institution eagerly anticipates their performance on the national platform. Their journey is not only a testament to their personal aspirations but also a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes within the HKM GDC Bandipora community,” spokesperson quoted principalas saying.
