Two drug peddlers arrested: Police

Srinagar,  Jan 20: Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Baramulla districts of Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

The police in a statement said that the Ganderbal Police received specific information regarding the presence of contraband substances in a residential house of Javaid Ahmad Laharwal son of late Ab Gaffar Laharwal resident of Kondabal. 

"On receipt of this information, a police party on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, led by SHO Police Station Safapora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal raided the said residential house," it said.

"During the search, a Heron -like substance was recovered from the said house. The recovered contraband substance was seized in presence of Executive Magistrate First Class and the accused was arrested on the spot," it said.

In Baramulla, the police said that a police party of Police Station Boniyar headed by SHO PS Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Ahtishampora Boniyar intercepted one person.

"During the search, 46 grams of Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Imran Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Mohd Sheikh resident of Bujhthalan Boniyar. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Boniyar where he remains in custody," it added.

"Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective Police Stations and further investigation have been taken up," it added.
