Bandipora 31 January 31: Bandipora Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered illicit liquor from their possession.
In a statement issued today, spokesperson said the Bandipora police continuity it's drive against the menace of drugs and other contraband substances today arrested two drug peddlers at Pazalpora Pethkote and recovered illicit liquor from their possession.
He said acting on a specific information a police party led by SHO Pethkoot Tanveer Ahmed under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Bandipora Dr. Mohd Idrees Wani established Naka at Pazalpora near forest Check Post. “During checking a vehicle bearing registration number JK01K-9517 was signalled to stop and during checking of the said vehicle two suspicious persons were arrested, who were carrying 15 illegal liquor bottles in the said vehicle”. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
The accused have been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Ganie S/o Mohd Ramzan Ganie R/o Ayatmulla , and Javaid Ahmad Ahanger S/o Abdul Rahman R/o Bankoot.
Spokesperson said during Preliminary enquiry it was revealed that the accused were supplying liquor to the youths of area to make them liquor Addict. “Upon this case FIR no.03/2022 under relevant sections of Excise act has been registered in Police station Pethkote and further investigation has been taken up”.
