The Valley That Owns My Heart

Soha Farooq

My heart starts to sink when I think of moving away from my homeland my Kashmir . Will it be worth leaving everything behind for a better future ? I am dubious with all the uncertainties in life a part of me is scared to lose my identity .
Many a times when we leave our homes for a better future we get fascinated because of a new environment which we aren’t much aware of . Maybe wearing a Pheran with a pride , eating in a trami , doing rouf in family functions was all that I ever wanted .
Kashmir is not just heaven on Earth , it’s a piece of my heart , I always find my way back to its not just the homesickness that crawls in my veins but it’s the love I have for my roots which makes it even more special . Why is the love for this place engraved in my heart ?
The reason is more than it just being my homeland , it’s the pain that this place has endured . The valley has a of blood stains imprinted , the cries of the mothers who are waiting for their sons to return still echo in the mountains .
These few things have left a deep impact in my mind and the impact will always stay with me whether I stay in here forever or leave from my HOMELAND forever
