Jammu, Nov 13: In the wake of the recent car blast near New Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10 an incident that claimed 12 lives and left many injured Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha declared that while security forces are determined to dismantle terror ecosystems, society must also stand united against terror sympathizers.
Speaking at the 19th (Second Special) Convocation Ceremony of the University of Jammu, LG Sinha as per Kashmir Convener emphasized the multifaceted nature of the security challenge.
“Society must actively counter terrorism, as it plays a critical role in recognizing and reporting suspicious activities and countering radicalization efforts,” he stated, as per this newspaper.
The Lieutenant Governor issued a stark warning, stating that if citizens do not stand up strongly against terrorists, it could become an existential threat to society, destroying its stability, peace, and progress.
“I want to urge enlightened citizens that it is the need of the hour to expose those who give shelter to terrorists and create extremist narratives. You must stand against such elements,” he said.
He underscored that terrorism has posed a fundamental threat to peace and progress, with the people of Jammu and Kashmir having suffered its brunt for over three decades.
“The biggest enemy of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir for more than three decades, terrorism destroyed their dreams and aspirations,” LG Sinha said.
He contrasted this with the current scenario, stated a significant shift in the aspirations of the region’s youth. “Now, our youth and young professionals are fulfilling their dreams and achieving their aspirations. They are increasingly dreaming of and working towards goals similar to those in the rest of the country, desiring a better life and career.”
Pertinently, the Lieutenant Governor also stated that Pakistan and its proxy terrorist elements are actively attempting to disrupt the hard-earned peace in the region.
