Teachers Question JKTF’s Claims Amid Debate Over Fair Postings in Bandipora

Bandipora, Dec 02: A fresh debate has emerged within Bandipora’s teaching community following a recent statement by the Jammu & Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) Bandipora.

While the Forum highlighted various concerns to the District Administration, many teachers argue that JKTF must also scrutinize its own commitments—especially its oft-repeated claim that “the child is our priority.”

Teachers point out that despite chronic staff shortages in remote and academically fragile areas, several Forum-affiliated teachers continue to occupy comfortable postings.

Teachers recall last year’s transfer episode when five JKTF-affiliated teachers posted to Gurez were quickly brought back following strong intervention from the Forum.

Meanwhile, dozens of other teachers served in Gurez for nearly three years without comparable support, representation, or advocacy. This disparity, critics say, raises questions about fairness and internal consistency within the Forum.

Many Teachers while talking to Kashmir Convener, insist that if JKTF Bandipora genuinely seeks equitable postings and aims to uphold the moral standards it publicly champions, the leadership must lead by example.

Senior Forum members, they suggest, should volunteer for challenging assignments to demonstrate commitment beyond slogans.

Teachers involved in the discussions believe that public trust is earned not through statements but through visible dedication to students in areas where hardship is routine and resources are scarce. They hoped JKTF will reflect on these concerns and respond in a manner that reinforces its stated values.
